Deep navy and amethyst contrast subtle blues and warm golds in a variety of textures in this tranquil retreat. When the homeowner enlisted Josephine Kurtz — Principal Designer and head of Kurtz Collection’s full-service interior design services — she knew she wanted to revamp her space into more than just a room to sleep. Thanks to cozy additions and thoughtful details, we’re pleased to hear this space is now her favorite room in the house!
Whimsical Threads
The bedroom design was driven by two main elements: the rug and the window panels. Since the rug is the foundation of any room — and typically one of the largest pieces and biggest investments — we started there. This Indian ikat from our global collection features warm blues, tans and gold that nod to natural elements in an easy-going, approachable way. The whimsical yet sophisticated Verdure fabric in lead blue by Zoffany selected for the custom window panels informed the design choices for the rest of the space. The classical forest scene harkens to old world charm in a lively yet subtle tone, and set the quiet mood of the room.
Josephine tapped into my love of nature and reflected it in my bedroom. It now feels like a room meant for me and I instantly feel at ease when I walk in.”

Room to Relax
While some of the homeowner’s existing furnishings were repurposed in the new design, a conversation area was created with new seating and coffee table as a stylish space for lounging — and doubles as a new focal point of the room!
